The playoffs are in full swing and the top teams are producing some outstanding individual efforts. This last week seems to have been all about running backs.

Chris Clark, Altavista senior running back, rushed 13 times for 163 yards and three touchdowns in the Colonels' 43-13 victory over Nelson County. The win clinched the Colonels' first share of a Dogwood District title since 1971 and their first Region B, Division 1, playoff berth since 1990.

GW-Danville junior running back DeVaughn Benion rushed for 212 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries in the Eagles' 56-15 loss to Osbourn in the quarterfinals of the Northwest Region tournament.

Christiansburg senior running back Ryan Fisher racked up 181 yards and three touchdowns , On just five carries in the Blue Demons' 48-6 win over Bassett last week.
