The Kingsport Mets’ bats were red-hot Sunday night. The team picked up 12 hits en route to a 4-1 victory over the Danville Braves.

The first runs of the night came in the bottom of the second on a two-run home run by Mets rightfielder Cesar Puello.

Danville answered with a run of its own in the third. Jordan Kreke scored on a sacrifice fly by Mycal Jones.

But Kingsport expanded its lead in the bottom of the inning. Jeff Flagg’s double sent Joseph Bonfe across the plate, and Kurt Steinhauer singled Flagg in.

Neither team was able to get a run home after the fourth inning. In the ninth inning, the Braves were sat down 1-2-3 by reliever Guillaume Leduc.

Kreke was the only player to have more than one hit for the D-Braves, who mustered up only four runs altogether.

In the loss, Edigson Mora gave up four earned runs in 4 2/3 innings of work. Kingsport’s Jhonathan Torres was awarded the win after striking out six and giving up only two hits and one run.

Danville will get a chance at redemption in the second game of the teams’ series tonight at 7 in Kingsport.
