DANVILLE — Piedmont College rebounded well from their opening round loss in the Division III tournament on Thursday at Dan Daniel Park, knocking off No. 1 seed Salisbury 10-6.

The Piedmont (34-13) bats came alive late, scoring five runs in the top of the seventh, to push their way to victory. Cole Spedale led Piedmont with a 4-for-4 effort that included three RBIs and two runs scored, while Josh McEachen got the win on the mound in relief — pitching two innings of two-hit ball.

Piedmont now advances to play Johns Hopkins, which defeated Randolph-Macon 13-8 on Thursday. Johns Hopkins (35-6) pushed four runs across in the top of the eighth to break through a 7-7 tie, and was led by the trio of Brian Youchak, Rob Pietroforte and Todd Emr, who combined to go 8-for-12 with eight RBIs and four runs scored.

The start time for the Piedmont/Johns Hopkins game was unknown at press time, as the nightcap game of Lynchburg vs. Christopher Newport was under a rain delay.
