KINGSPORT, Tenn — The Danville Braves ended a three-game skid with a 7-0 shutout over the Kingsport Mets on Saturday.

Danville’s Casey Hodges allowed just three hits over seven innings and struck out five to improve his record to 2-1, and Craig Kimbrel pitched a hitless two innings to put away the Mets.

Danville took an early 2-0 lead on Chris Shehan’s two-run homer in the first inning. The D-Braves added another run in the fourth on a Mathew Kennelly RBI double and scored again in the seventh on Gerardo Rodriguez’s sacrifice fly.

Danville sealed the win with three more runs in the eighth inning.

Kennelly, Shayne Moody and Joel Campusano each had two hits and L.V. Ware drove in two runs.

Danville finishes its three-game series with Kingsport today before taking Monday off.
