KINGSPORT, Tenn — It was a rough night for Danville starter Tim Ladd, who got lit up before exiting with an injury in the Braves’ 8-4 drubbing by Kingsport on Friday.

Ladd gave up four runs before leaving with a leg injury two-third of an inning into the game. After getting a fly out from the leadoff hitter, the Mets’ Daniel Stegall hit a homer ot right field. Back-to-back walks led to an RBI double and a two-run triple, giving Kingsport a 4-0 lead.

Danville (12-6) got one run back in the third on a Jesus Sucre homer, and tied the game in the top of the sixth on Jon Gilmore’s three-run homer.

But it didn’t last long. Kingsport added two runs in the bottom of the sixth and two more in the eighth to pull away. Matt Timms took the loss.

Gimore and Sucre both went 2-for-4.

Stegall and Pegro Zepato each had three hits for Kingsport (11-7).
