Led by 13 first-place finishes, the Reidsville Rams rolled to an easy win in Tuesday’s track and field tri-meet – held at Community Stadium.
The Rams finished first with 98 points, followed by Morehead with 45 and Bartlett Yancey 25. On the girls’ side, Morehead won with a total of 75 points. Reidsville was second with 39 and BY was third at 22.
The only events Reidsville did not win were the high jump, 4x100-meter relay, the shot put and the 100-meter dash.
All three were won by Morehead. Kyre Keen won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.3 seconds, Cameron Wade won the high jump with a mark of 6-0 and the Panther relay team won the 400-meter relay with a time of 48.1.
Morehead also won the shot put as Leverne Dillard had a throw of 43-3.
Reidsville had three multiple winners, led by Larry Void, Zachary Bryan, William Welch and Raymond Culver. Void won the triple jump (39-4) and the long jump (19-9), Bryan won the 3200-meter (14.41) and the 800-meter (2:16) runs, Welch swept the 110-meter (17.4) and the 300-meter hurdles (46.4) and Culver won the 200 (23.7) and 400 meter (51.1) dashes.
The other Ram wins came from the 3200-meter relay (12:24), the 800-meter relay (1:36.6), Lamar White (discus, 111-11) and the 1600-meter relay (3:53).
The Lady Panthers dominated the girls’ side of things with 6 first-place finishes.
Shanika Scales won the long jump (14-11), the 200-meter dash (26.9) and the 100-meter dash (12.9) and Natalie Robinson won a pair of events – taking first in the 800-meter (3:36) and the 1600-meter (8:54).
MHS also won the 4x100-meter relay, with a time of 54.2.
The other Lady Panther win came from Ashley Scales, who won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.50.
Reidsville’s wins came from the 800-meter relay (1:53.5), Brittany Brown (shot put, 26-9 and discus, 83-0), Raven Foust (400-meter, 1:09 and high jump, 5-0) and Briana Maynard (300 hurdles, 55.9).
Bartlett Yancey’s lone win came in the 1600-meter relay with a time of 4:37.
The Reidsville track and field teams return to action on Thursday when they host North State rival Eastern Guilford.
Morehead returns to action on April 22 against Northern Guilford.
