Chatham boys, girls run over Dan River

RINGGOLD — An all-around effort from Marissa Thompson and a combined seven first place finishes from Solomon Witcher and David Dixon propelled the Chatham Cavaliers to respective wins on both the girls side and the boys side on Thursday against Dan River.

The Chatham girls won 88-38, as Thompson excelled at both track events (first in the 300-Intermediate hurdles) and field events (first in the triple jump, second in shot put and a pair of third place finishes). While the Cavaliers boys got a big boost from Witcher (first in the 110-high hurdles, triple jump, 300-Intermediate hurdles and tied for first in the high jump) and Dixon (first in the 400-meter dash, 200-meter dash and tied for first in the high jump) — beating Dan River 73-50.
