A woman died of a heart attack, which resulted in a car accident.
According to North Carolina Highway Patrol Sergeant Mike Brooks, Carolyn Rickman, 64, had traveled two-tenths of a mile from her home when the heart attack occurred. She was traveling north on Pennington Road.
Brooks said this caused her vehicle to collide headon with another vehicle. The victim in the other car was uninjured and did not need to be transported to the hospital.
Brooks said both vehicles had damage to the front end, but the passenger area of both vehicles remained intact.
Rickman’s husband was at work at the time of the accident and was called to the scene after impact.
According to Brooks, Rickman’s death was ruled by a medical examiner as death by natural causes before the impact.
