On Tuesday the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina Highway Patrol and the D.E.A. seized approximately 1,100 pounds of marijuana in Reidsville.
According to a press release from the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, the marijuana was found at 161 Cole Road and has an estimated street value of $660,000.
With a search warrant, several hundred thousand U.S. dollars, a firearm, a small amount of cocaine, a 2004 Nissan Titan and a Jeep Liberty were also seized, according to the release.
Three people have been arrested as a result of this investigation and have also been declared to be in the country illegally from Mexico, according to the release.
“This is a perfect example of how our porous U.S. southern borders affect Rockingham County, not just the border states,” Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page said in the release. “This is why I will continue to fight for increased security of our national borders.”
Jose Manuel Bahena, 23, Esteban Valentin Rojas, 30, and Jose De Jesus Villa, 24, have been placed in Rockingham County jail under a $1 million bond. They are each scheduled to appear in court Feb. 9.
