Workers at an IKEA distribution center in Maryland have voted to join a union.
On Wednesday, a majority of the co-workers in a voting unit at the IKEA distribution center in Perryville, Md., voted to be represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, according to a news release from the company.
“As we have communicated from the start of this process, we believe in the right of the co-workers to make this decision,” said Ed Morris, manager of the Perryville facility. “We accept the co-workers’ decision and look forward to working with their representatives in a mutually cooperative and respectful manner.”
Workers at Danville's Swedwood ratified a three-year contract between the plant and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers in December.
