The Rockingham County Fire Marshal’s office has been busy putting out fires in the county this week.
On Monday a mobile home caught fire when the chimney of a wood stove sparked a fire in the attic, according to assistant fire marshal John Cruise. Damage from the fire was located in an addition on the mobile home.
The home was located on Highway 158 in Reidsville. The homeowner suffered from smoke inhalation and was taken to Annie Penn Hospital for treatment, according to Cruise.
On Tuesday another mobile home fire took place on Moyer Lane. Cruise said it’s believed the fire was caused by the oven.
The home was completely destroyed, according to Cruise. He said no one was home at the time and no injuries occurred.
On Wednesday, a fire on Highway 220 in Stoneville started at a warehouse. Cruise said the warehouse is split in half with two separate businesses.
The fire began, he said, when someone decided to burn trash in a barrel, which isn’t legal. Leaves around the barrel caught fire and in turn caught lumber leaning against the building on fire, according to Cruise.
Cruise said a car parked near the building was totaled due to the fire and there was minimal damage to the building.
