To the editor:
I am all for improvement down by the river with new shops and bringing tourists to the area, but this is being done at a bad time with budget cuts that Danville City Council is considering. Our city employees — including my son — have sleepless nights wondering if this is the day they will receive a pink slip. A school, library and even talk of a fire station on the chopping block. Our students are the future of this area and deserve better. If there is any extra money available, the city needs to use it to save employees’ jobs, a school and a library; don’t use it on expensive projects just yet. ROBERT HAYDEN Blairs
