A house fire brought heavy damage to a Danville home Monday evening.
Discarded smoking material caused the blaze that occurred at 483 Granville Drive just before 9 p.m. Monday, according to a news release from the Danville Fire Department.
No one was injured in the fire.
The department was dispatched at 8:51 p.m. to a report of smoke in the residence in north Danville. Firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the house and fire had engulfed half of the structure by the time they arrived, said Battalion Chief Dallas R. Swiney in the release.
Several units and 17 fire personnel were on the scene for about two hours.
The fire was contained to the den, laundry area and kitchen while heat and smoke caused heavy damage to the rest of the home.
