Two men shot in Axton

Two Birchwood Road residents were injured after a Wednesday shooting in Axton.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office determined a shooting occurred at 10:30 a.m. at 1974 Birchwood Road, where 50-year-old John W. Rivalte and 36-year-old Ronnie W. Jackson suffered gunshot wounds, according to a news release.

Rivalte, who lives at 1974 Birchwood Road, and Jackson, who lives at 1650 Birchwood Road, were transported by personal vehicles to Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County for treatment.

Investigators found two weapons, a set of scales and a small amount of drugs at the crime scene.

“At this time we do not feel we have received all of the relevant information in reference to this incident,” the release continued.

The victims described the shooting suspect as a clean-shaven Hispanic male of medium build wearing a blue coat and dark hat. The suspect was driving a dark-colored four-door or extended-cab Nissan Titan pickup truck.
