The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victims of Saturday morning’s double homicide on Pinewood Road near the Bethany community.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, Douglas Troy French, 48, and Ladonna Mosley French, 45, were found dead inside their home at 791 Pinewood Road, each the apparent victim of a gunshot wound. Deputies had been called to the home shortly after 2 a.m. to investigate a reported home invasion.

A third resident of the home, 19-year-old Whitley Morgan French, was transported to Annie Penn Hospital for treatment of laceration wounds. Further information on her condition was unavailable.

A male dressed in dark clothing was seen fleeing from the residence shortly after the incident.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about this incident to contact Detective Captain Billy Parker at (336) 634-3232, ext. 4101, or Rockingham County Crimestoppers at (336) 349-9683.

Deputies are currently investigating a double homicide west of Reidsville which took place Saturday morning. The suspect is still at large.

Two occupants, a homeowner and his wife, were found deceased from gunshot wounds at 791 Pinewood Road near the Bethany community, according to Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Kevin Suthard.

Suthard said a third victim is being treated at Annie Penn Hospital with stab wounds. Deputies are looking for a male wearing dark clothing who fled the scene.

No names are being released at this time. Further updates will be provided on GoDanRiver.com as they become available.

“It is a tragic loss,” said Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page, who advised anyone with knowledge pertaining to the crime to contact the sheriff’s office at (336) 634-3232 or Rockingham County Crime Stoppers at (336) 349-9683.

The State Bureau of Investigation assisted at the scene.
