TREE OF HOPE LIGHTING CEREMONY: The Annie Penn Auxiliary will hold its annual Tree of Hope Lighting Ceremony at 4 p.m. beginning with the lighting at the live tree lighting at the Main Street entrance. Annie Penn Hospital employees and volunteers will provide musical entertainment, and holiday refreshments will be served in the Annie Penn Cafeteria following the outdoor tree lighting. STATE PARK COOK BOOK: Copies of the new “Jawbone Trail Cookbook” are available at the temporary office of the Mayo River State Park, located at 2341 U.S. 220 Business in Mayodan. The cookbook is a naturally wonderful collection of treasured heritage recipes from N.C. State Parks’ staff members, family and friends. The 200 spiral-bound pages are filled with 294 recipes in 13 categories, as well as unique nature photographs and pen and ink drawings of animals, plants and insects from the N.C. State Parks.
