DRMC as good as any hospital

To the editor:

First of all, my husband, the Rev. Rudy Robinson, of Bassett, and I would like to give thanks and praise to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for his mercy and healing power.

On April 7, my husband had a heart catheterization at Danville Regional Medical Center by Dr. Miller. The following Monday, he had a triple bypass surgery at the Duke Heart & Vascular Center at Danville Regional Medical Center by Dr. Sweezer.

Dr. Miller and the nursing staff took excellent care of my husband regarding the catheterization procedure and other test that was taken care of while he was there, so he did not have to come back prior to the bypass surgery.

Our family was very impressed with the professional and compassionate manner Dr. Miller, Dr. Sweezer and their staff showed during this time. The surgery and recovery time has been beyond our expectations. Dr. Sweezer took time to talk with the family and explain what he would be doing during the surgery and kept us posted every 90 minutes as to how my husband was getting along. The nursing staff in CCU was polite, professional and very compassionate as well as knowledgeable in what they were doing. We could not have asked for better care anywhere than what he received at Danville Regional.

We would like to give special thanks to Dr. Miller, Dr. Sweezer, the nurses in the heart catheterization department — Brian Compton, Stephanie, Angela, David and all the other team members in CCU. You did a wonderful job and we will always be indebted to you for your kindness and expertise.

My husband and I have had surgery at Wake Forest and University of Virginia in years past. The care in those great hospitals was excellent but it did not exceed what we experienced at Danville Regional. Thank you, Danville Regional, for a great medical experience in our time of need.
