Halifax County Emergency Services is fielding numerous offers for volunteer help and donations.
Right now, it is using experienced volunteer organizations, according to a news release.
The Virginia Baptist Association’s Disaster Relief team is assessing the Liberty area. Halifax County Emergency Services personnel are also completing a secondary needs assessment of shelter, food and water.
Emergency services requested a volunteer coordination team from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and anticipates it will be on-site Saturday to coordinate volunteers. Emergency services is asking those who want to volunteer wait until a request for volunteers is made
Donate clothing, shoes, personal care and hygiene items at First Baptist Millstone Church (at 1157 Millstone Church Trail in Nathalie on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.) or Hands Up For Halifax (at 807 Traver Ave. in South Boston.)
