To the editor:
Democrat Tom Perriello must be defeated in November. Independents, Democrats and Republicans should join together to elect someone who will stop the spending in Washington, D.C.
Perriello’s vote for the health care bill demonstrated he has no problem spending money we don’t have. He knows we are almost $14 trillion in debt.
Perriello favors cap and trade. Cap and trade would only increase energy costs. We need someone in Washington that favors more energy explorations, not someone who favors putting restrictions on energy use.
Our taxes will increase in January. The federal government will need more of our money to pay for its spending. It will be difficult to create jobs in the private sector when more money goes to the government. Perriello should know this.
Voters in the Fifth District know they must live within their means. They make tough spending decisions in their daily finances. Perriello has not made any tough decision. He just spends.
Perriello can run goofy commercials on television. He can send out massive taxpayer mailings, but it will not change his votes.
Fifth District voters should put political party aside and send someone who will spend our taxpayer money responsibly.
Republican Robert Hurt should understand that if he goes to Washington and votes like Perriello, he should also get voted out of office.
