Danville Police search for shooting suspect

Danville Police found a 29-year-old Danville man suffering from a gunshot wound to his hip at 3 a.m. in the 200 block of Campbell Street.

Danville Police found a 29-year-old Danville man suffering from a gunshot wound to his hip at 3 a.m. in the 200 block of Campbell Street.

The man was transported to Danville Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries, according to a police news release.

Witnesses told police the victim got into a verbal dispute and was shot by a female in a vehicle. After investigating, police obtained warrants for LaTonya M. Smith, 25, of Pittsylvania County for shooting from a motor vehicle, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the release stated.

Smith has not been arrested and Danville Police are attempting to determine her location.
