The caricature of the 2008 presidential election will be in Danville Saturday morning to endorse Laurence Verga, one of the seven Republicans hoping to challenge Rep. Tom Perriello, D-5th District, in November.
Joe “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher will endorse Verga at a fundraising event at Mary’s Diner in Danville from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday. According to a news release, Wurzelbacher came to represent millions of Americans in 2008 after he questioned then-Sen. Barack Obama about small business taxes.
“I’m looking forward to helping Laurence Verga become a public servant,” Wurzelbacher said in a statement. “Laurence is a true American that truly understands the importance of the Constitution, and will follow it.”
Wurzelbacher and Verga will also make stops in Charlottesville and Lynchburg this weekend. Wurzelbacher lives in Ohio and is a motivational speaker and political commentator. He speaks at conservative political conferences and TEA party rallies across the country.
“Joe is a hero to conservatives across the country,” Verga said in a statement. “As a small business owner myself, I can identify with Joe’s middle class background and the struggle that Virginians face where high taxes and burdensome regulation are limiting the potential to build a business in the free market.”
