DANVILLE — For voters who have not yet registered and want to vote in the Nov. 3 election, the dead-line is Monday.

Applications for first-time voters may be submitted to the local registrar by mail or in person. The Vir-ginia State Board of Elections encourages residents to check their voter status, polling place location and see a sample ballot online at www.sbe.virginia.gov. Virginians can call the SBE at (800) 552-9745.

Danville’s voter registration office is located at 515 Main St. and is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; call (434) 799-6560. Pittsylvania County’s office is located at 110 Old Chatham Elementary Lane in Chatham and open Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; call (434) 432-7971.

Residents who are already registered to vote but need to update their name or address may use a voter registration application, also due by Monday at 5 p.m. Any registration forms mailed must be postmarked by Monday.

For in-person absentee voting, both local offices will be open two Saturdays in October — Oct. 24 and Oct. 31 — in addition to regular Monday through Friday hours. The deadline for in-person absentee voting is Oct. 31 at 5 p.m. The deadline for receiving absentee voting by mail is Oct. 27.
