Huddleston logger killed by falling tree

»  Comments | Post a Comment

HARDY (AP) — A logger is dead after he was hit by a falling tree while trimming another tree’s branches in the Hardy area of Franklin County.

Police identified the victim as 48-year-old Terry Roach of Huddleston.

Capt. Patrick Meeks with the Franklin County Department of Public Safety says the soil was saturated with rainwater and may have caused the tree’s roots to pull out of the ground. But Meeks says it also could have been a freak accident.

The accident occurred Saturday morning.
