One hundred years. That’s how long Home Savings Bank has been in business, and Friday, the bank’s employees said “thank you” to both their customers and the community.

“We wanted everyone to come out and help us celebrate,” said Texie Needham, manager of the bank’s Reidsville branch. “We’ve had a really great turnout.”

Beginning before noon and continuing through about 2 p.m., guests were treated to hot dogs and ice cream, catered by Caterfest. She said bank clients were invited, as well as local police officers, firefighters and other workers.

“We invited everybody,” she said.

In September of 2007, the bank opened a branch in Reidsville. In February of this year, the Reidsville branch got a new building, located on Freeway Drive.

“We’re very proud of this location,” Needham said.

Home Savings Bank was founded to help make life better for individuals and businesses in Rockingham County,” bank president Jonathan Jobe said in the release. “Over the past 100 years, we’ve been able to help build businesses, put families in homes and helped families save for the future while helping our customers make the most of their hard-earned paycheck. We look forward to 100 more years of serving the community.”

Home Savings Bank is part of the HomeTrust Banking Partnership, which has assets of more than $1.4 billion and is the largest mutual bank headquartered in North Carolina, according to the release.
