UPDATE THURSDAY 1/29, 9:16 a.m.: The Danville Fire Department is looking for what caused the fire and monitoring hot spots.
They say both the Beauty Land and Cash Advance stores have heavy fire damage. The fire was contained to those two businesses.
UPDATE 7:15 a.m.: Firefighters worked through the early morning working to put out still-burning items that couldn't be easily accessed after the roof collapsed, said assistant fire chief S.R. Dishman. It took 40 firefighters more than an hour to bring Wednesday night's blaze under control. Dishman said there are no injuries, and they are waiting for a little more light to start investigating the cause.

DANVILLE — Crews were continuing to battle a massive fire in Ballou Park Shopping Center late Wednesday night.
The call came in about 10:30 p.m. of a blaze at the center.
Beauty Land was completely engulfed in flames, and the fire had spread to neighboring Advance America Cash Advance.
Smoke could be seen coming from the roof of other businesses in the shopping center.
While traffic was not blocked on West Main Street, Lt. S. Stevens of the Danville Police Department was asking the public to avoid the area late Wednesday night.
Stevens said at least six officers were at the shopping center.
Explosions were also heard by a photographer when arriving at the fire scene.
