At least two people were injured Friday night in an accident on U.S. 29 between South Main Street and Goodyear Boulevard.
Several rescue workers responded to the accident with Danville police closing one lane while the victims were extricated from the vehicle.
The accident happened at about 8:50 p.m., with one car down an embankment on northbound U.S. 29. By 10 p.m., all of the victims had been extricated.
It appeared there were six people in the car, one adult and five children, but that was not confirmed at press time.
At least two of the victims were carried up the embankment on stretchers and transported to Danville Regional Medical Center by ambulance. A Life Flight helicopter from Duke University Medical Center also had been called to the helipad near the Danville Life Saving Crew’s headquarters.
