The Rev. R.J. Barber Jr. will soon begin taping a series of “Tabernacle Time” programs regarding biblical prophecy.
Barber will quiz the Rev. Kenneth Terry, a well-known pastor in Pentecostal Holiness circles, in a roughly weeklong radio broadcast that will air the following week on WAKG.
Why would a Baptist and a Pentecostal Holiness minister discuss these topics?
“I consider him one of the most well-versed, capable ministers on Bible prophecy of any preacher in our area,” Barber said.
Barber and Terry will talk about the meaning of the rapture — the Christian belief that millions of people will be left behind after Christ claims his own people.
Another segment will deal with Jesus and whether he gave any indications about the end of time. Disasters, man-made and natural, will be the topic of one program.
The pastors also will discuss the responsibility of a Christian during an election season. Barber suggested there might be a rally at some point after the series.
He said that his health continues to improve after his near-death encounter last year. He almost died from a heart attack after complications from an out-of-town surgical procedure.
“I speak to churches on a regular basis. I visit people in the hospital and perform weddings and funerals,” Barber said. “I’m looking forward to my 81st birthday in December.”
Barber said “Tabernacle Time” is the only gospel program on a 100,000-watt country music station in the Southeast. He said the broadcast can be heard in Danville and several surrounding counties in Virginia and North Carolina, including Pittsylvania, Rockingham, Caswell and Halifax counties.
