That's incredible!

That's incredible!

Jeramy Freeman, dressed as Mr. Incredible, recaps a pen after signing an autograph at a carnival at Kids Have Style Family Salon on Saturday. Mckenna Yeaman, 4, far left, smiles as she grasps the netting of a Space Walk inflated trampoline tent.

A genuine spandex and mask-wearing superhero was spotted on Riverside Drive on Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Incredible, one of the Herculean heroes of the 2004 Disney Pixar film, “The Incredibles,” was the main attraction at a small carnival hosted by Marion Morrison, the owner of Kids Have Style Family Salon.

Morrison’s brother, body builder Jeramy Freeman, was used as the prototype for Mr. Incredible, and ordered an authentic Comic Costume

to make occasional appearances as the character.

“I don’t do appearances as Mr.

Incredible often,” Freeman said, adding with a laugh, “Nobody looks good in Spandex.”

But in spite of the unnaturalness of the suit, Freeman still plays the part for a good cause.

“It’s fun for the kids,” he said. “If you can make them happy, that makes it all worth it.”

And fun for kids of all ages is the motto of Kids Have Style Family Salon. Open since March, there are areas for grown ups and little ones, including a room for make-up and ear piercings for birthday parties. A miniature airplane and muscle car are available seating for children having their hair cut, and each young customer receives a TY Beanie Baby. A nail salon and more traditional hair styling stations are on-site for parents and teenagers.

The carnival was held as a promotion for the salon, and “The Incredibles” was a clear theme: Mr. Incredible balloons waved in the wind, children sported the logo for the Incredible family on their cheeks in face paint and Disney songs cheerfully sang from the speakers inside the salon.

In addition to the opportunity to meet Mr. Incredible, visitors to the carnival were also entertained by a Space Walk trampoline tent, a dunking tank (manned by Morrison’s husband, Jim Morrison), a fishing game and an inflated slide. Approximately 300 people joined in the fun throughout the day.

Freeman will be making his next appearance as Mr. Incredible delivering Christmas presents at a children’s hospital in Syracuse, N.Y., where he lives with his wife and daughter, who have no superpowers that they know of.
