The Danville Police Department is using a new investigative tactic to solve a fatal shooting.

Police filmed a segment with Danville TV channel 20’s Mark Aron to reenact the murder of Ivory Law on April 12, Danville Police Lt. Mike Mondul said in a news release.

Local high school actors who received volunteer credit were used in the video clip, he said.

The clip has been posted on YouTube to help disseminate the case information and capture the suspect, Kavion Desean Bennett, 19, who is wanted for murder, malicious wounding and two counts of use of a firearm during the commission of a felony in connection with the crime.

On April 12, officers responded to the 300 block of Cunningham Street after a “shots fired” call, police said.

Officers found 24-year-old Ivory Law and a 22 year-old male, both Danville residents, suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

The victims were transported to the Danville Regional Medical Center. Law died as a result of his injuries.

The other victim was treated at the hospital and later released. His name is being withheld by police.
