A crash involving a car and a motorcycle on Piney Forest Road on Sunday evening sent two to the hospital with injuries, seriously hurting one and resulting in a DWI for the car’s driver.

The accident was reported at 6:23 p.m., Danville Police Captain Tim W. Jones said.

A 1998 Suzuki motorcycle, with a male driver and female passenger, was heading south on Piney Forest Road when a 1999 Ford four-door vehicle, driven by 50-year-old Ronald L. Reynolds of Danville, pulled out in front of them at Pit Stop Mart Convenience Store at 1371 Piney Forest Road, Jones said. The motorcycle hit the car, ejecting the bike’s driver and passenger, who sustained moderate and serious injuries, respectively.

They were taken to Danville Regional Medical Center.

A second motorcycle traveling south avoided hitting Reynolds’ vehicle, Jones said.

Reynolds, who was not injured, was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to yield the right-of-way from private property, Jones said in a news release. Reynolds was also served with an outstanding warrant for failure to comply.

Jones declined to release the names of the victims. Details about their conditions were unavailable.
