Virginia Power has plenty of cleaning up to do in the wave of thunderstorms that left thousands of customers without power in the state.

Northern Virginia was particularly hard hit by yesterday's storms; nearly 49,000 customers were without power late last night, and by 6 a.m. today, that number stood at nearly 28,000.

More than 2,600 customers in the Richmond-Tri Cities service area were without power late last night, and by 6 a.m., that figure had decreased to slightly more than 1,000.
