RALEIGH, N.C.Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is kicking off a two-week tour to talk about the economy with a stop in North Carolina.
Obama will visit the North Carolina State Fairgrounds on Monday for an invitation-only event. The Illinois senator said in a statement that he will work for the middle class by reforming the nation's tax code.
A stop in North Carolina indicates Obama's eagerness to compete in the state. North Carolina hasn't chosen a Democratic president for more than three decades, but Obama has already drawn new voters to register, especially among the state's large black community.
While Obama launches the ``Change that Works for You'' tour, the Republican Party is launching a ``Change We Can't Afford'' Web site to talk about Obama's economic policies.
