UPDATE: 5:36 p.m., July 17, 2008 Early Thursday morning, thieves stole four cooper downspouts and copper from an air-conditioning unit at the Danville Register & Bee. The items taken were valued at $5,000, according to police.

Danville Police are looking into more copper theft incidents that took place over the last couple of days.
Lt. Mike Mondul said Leland Tile Company, on Industrial Avenue and the copper coils and tubing from a two ton air conditioners behind the business were stolen.
The copper from two heat pump units was stolen from behind the residence on the 300 block of Holbrook Avenue.
First Baptist Church on Main Street has copper from the air conditioning unit stolen from behind the church.
All in One Barber Shop on Craghead Street had copper coils from a three-ton air conditioning unit were stolen from the rear of the business.

A Danville church and two businesses were targeted by copper thieves late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.
Two copper downspouts were stolen from First Presbyterian Church on Main Street, according to a news release from the Danville Police Department.
Copper also was stripped from two 4-ton air-conditioning units at Dr. Daniel Pomposini’s office at 125 Watson St., police said.
In addition, the copper coils were removed from the air-conditioning units at an office at 500 N. Main St., police said.
Lt. Mike Mondul said that an investigation is under way to determine whether the three incidents are related.
Anyone with information about the thefts is encouraged to call Danville Crime Stoppers at (434) 793-0000, and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
