Reidsville police are investigating a reported assault and the theft and burning of a pickup. The first report was made 3:56 a.m. Friday at the corner of Northeast Market Street and Tipton Place.
Lisa Hughes said she was driving to pick up a friend in the neighborhood. She said she saw someone coming out of a shadowy area and thought it was her friend, so she stopped her husband’s Mazda pickup, police report said.
When she stopped the truck, she reported, a man and a woman pulled her out of the truck, began to beat her and demanded money. She was taken to Annie Penn Hospital.
According to a second report, Reidsville police responded to 529 N. Tipton Place at 5:26 a.m. because of a burning vehicle, the Mazda pickup. A scooter in the bed of the truck was burned so badly that the serial numbers could not be read.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Reidsville police at 349-1010, or Crime Stoppers at 349-9683.
