MARTINSVILLE — The Martinsville Police Department arrested two individuals in connection with an abduction and malicious wounding in Martinsville that took place Sunday.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired at 913 Askin Street in Martinsville at 3:50 a.m.

The victims, Kenneth Ziglar and Natasha Hairston, said they heard someone knocking at the door of the residence. Ziglar said he opened the door and two individuals identified as Christopher James Hairston and Charles Anthony Hall entered.

Christopher Hairston asked to see Natasha and brandished a hand gun.

Ziglar and Christopher Hairston fought and struggled over the gun. Hall helped Christopher fight Ziglar, who was struck in the head with the gun.

The blow left a large cut on Ziglar’s head and caused the gun to discharge. Everyone else in the apartment fled, jumping from a second story window. Ziglar broke away a short time later and jumped from the same window.

As a result of jumping, Ziglar and Natasha Hairston both sustained broken left legs. The two suspects were quickly detained.

Christopher Hairston, 25, of 203 Fourth Street in Martinsville, was arrested and charged with two counts of abduction, one count of malicious wounding, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and one count of discharge of a firearm within an occupied dwelling.

Hall, 31, of 74 Deacon Drive in Stanleytown, was charged with two counts of abduction and two counts of assault and battery.
