Blues Brothers tribute coming to Caswell County Civic Center

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The Blues Brothers — one of the most famous acts to come out of “Saturday Night Live”— will have an all-out tribute at 8 p.m. Feb. 16 at Caswell County Civic Center.

The act has transformed from its origins of sketch comedy to become a popular musical show featuring legendary blues hits from Aretha Franklin, Joe Cocker, The Drifters and other well-known artists.

The premise for the Blues Brothers tribute at the civic center has the two title characters — Jake and Elwood Blues — on a mission from God to turn everyone into rhythm and blues fans while saving their Chicago orphanage from ruin as long as they can perform one last concert and avoid the law.

The Blues Brothers are matched with a trio of ladies called “The Bluettes” who provide backup with their voices and dance moves.

While there is a storyline of sorts, the show is more of a musical review, according to Civic Center Director Lee Fowlkes.

“It is such a fun thing and it appeals to such a broad audience,” said Fowlkes. “We found that the best selling shows target the Baby Boomer audience.”

With hits from the 1960s and 1970s performed throughout the entire two-hour show, the Blues Brothers are perfect for the Baby Boomer generation as well as their children and grandchildren since it is a lively form of family entertainment.

There are still tickets on sale for the 912-seat civic center and there is only one performance in Caswell County while the Blues Brothers show is on tour.
