George Washington High School drum major Rob Ballard keeps time as the marching band rehearses on the practice field at the high school on Thursday.
GWHS will be hosting the Dixie Classic band competition Saturday, with performances beginning at 1:30 p.m. and going on until after 7 p.m.
Twenty bands will be participating in the event.
