Kingsport Mets blow out Danville Braves, 12-2

Kingsport roughed up Danville pitching, scoring nine runs in the first four innings to win 12-2 on Monday night in Kingsport.

The D-Braves’ (46-21) lone runs came on solo home runs by Riaan Spanjer-Furstenburg and Christian Bethancourt. Spanjer-Furstenburg led off the fourth inning with his home run and Bethancourt hit his with two outs in the seventh off Mets (30-34) starter Zachary Von Tersch.

Appalachian League Pitcher of the Year Matt Crim (10-2) suffered his second consecutive loss by allowing two runs in his only inning of work. Kingsport rattled five hits off Crim, including a solo homer from Kurt Steinhauer. Eight of the nine Kingsport batters recorded hits and two batters had three hits each and four rattled off two hits apiece.

Cory Harrilchak was the only D-Braves batter to record multiple hits, going 2-for-3 on the night.

Danville faces Kingsport tonight at 7 p.m. in both teams’ season finale.
