Bethancourt homers, doubles to lead D-Braves past Elizabethton

Christian Bethancourt homered, doubled and drove in two runs as the Danville Braves defeated the Elizabethton Twins 5-1 Tuesday night to take the three-game series in Elizabethton.

Chris Masters earned the victory by allowing one run on five hits in five innings. He struck out seven and walked two.

Osman Marval went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI and Riann Spanjer-Furstenburg added a pair of base hits for Danville (37-17), which moved 7 1/2 games ahead of Princeton in the Appalachian League East Division standings with 13 games to play.

On deck


Danville has a day off before beginning a six-game homestand with a three-game series against the Greeneville Astros at 7 p.m. Thursday at Dan Daniel Park.
