Gretna outlasts Buckingham in Region B playoff overtime thriller
Nick Miller found Ted Jennings on a slant route and the junior receiver did the rest, bouncing off defenders into the end zone, giving the two-time defending state champion Hawks a 28-22 overtime victory over Buckingham in the semifinals of the Region B Division 2 tournament Saturday afternoon.
Rams continue to cruise through playoffs

Gretna leads the Dogwood into Region B playoffs
This marks the third consecutive year that three teams from the Dogwood advanced to postseason play. Each year, both Gretna and Appomattox advanced in Division 2, and Altavista replaces William Campbell as the Dogwood representative in Division 1.

Wildcats’ Myers finishes high school football season strong
R.J. Myers capped off his Dan River football career with a season-high 22 tackles and two rushing touchdowns in the Wildcats’ 34-0 victory in the regular season finale against Pittsylvania County rival Chatham on Saturday afternoon in Chatham.

GW falls to Osbourn in Northwest Region first round
Osbourn’s football team followed a 14-point first quarter with a 14-point second to defeat GW-Danville 56-15 on Saturday in the first round of a Northwest Region Division 5 playoff game.

Weather postpones GW playoff game, Dogwood finales
George Washington High School’s Division 5 Northwest Region playoff game against Osbourn has been postponed from tonight to 7 p.m. Saturday, and will now be played as part of a triple-header at Liberty-Bealeton High School.

HEARTBREAKER: Dan River falls to Appomattox in overtime
The Appomattox defense finally made a stop against the Dan River rushing attack, giving the Raiders a 28-26 victory and ensured Appomattox a share of the Dogwood District title and a berth in the Region B Division 2 playoffs.
