Reidsville High School principal Jonathan Craig confirmed on Friday that Doug Robertson has been named the new head football coach – replacing the retired Jimmy Teague.
Robertson, who played at Reidsville during the early 1990s, has been an assistant coach with the Rams for the past nine seasons.
Craig said that when all was said and done, Robertson made the most sense.
“He showed that pride and passion to be a Reidsville HS football coach,” said Craig. “That’s what we’re looking for to lead our football program.
Prior to coaching at Reidsville, Robertson spent two seasons at Delta State University.
“We have all the confidence in the world in him,” said RHS Athletic Director Ted Jones. “Working with Doug all the years we had. I knew we were selecting the person for the job.”
Teague coach the Rams for 17 years, winning four state championships and left Reidsville in the midst of a 32-game winning streak.
He announced his retirement on Dec. 15 and is now the offensive coordinator at Greensboro College.
