CHATHAM — Fork Union clobbered Hargrave Military Academy in the first half and hung on for a 37-19 Virginia Independent Conference victory on Friday night.
“I felt that we fought back well in the second half,” Hargrave coach David Tavenner said, adding that Fork Union enjoyed a 30-7 lead at the break. “We fell short on a couple of drives. We had some critical turnovers.”
Hargrave quarterback T.J. Bennett rushed for one touchdown and passed for another.
Tight end Zach Edmunds hauled in a 15-yard touchdown and tailback Dominique Clay scored from 10 yards out for Hargrave (1-1).
