Zach Rice named All-Metro Boys Soccer Player of the Year
Zach Rice saw a significant drop in goals scored from his electric freshman year, but his versatility combined with Tunstall reaching the semifinals of the Region IV tournament sets the sophomore up to receive the honor of being named the Danville Register & Bee Boys Soccer All-Metro Player of the Year.
Rice, who exploded for 32 goals his freshman year, scored 12 times and added three assists while occasionally switching from his forward position to help out on defense in 2009.
No longer able to take opponents by surprise as teams would prepare to face him, Rice still received a Piedmont District first-team selection and was a Region B honorable mention pick.
