DANVILLE — Jay Cumbo finished one pitch shy of a complete-game no-hitter, but teammate Troy Walker closed the deal as Danville American beat Altavista 9-0 in the 11-12 All-Star game Saturday at Rotary Field.
Cumbo, who was forced to exit after hitting the league-enforced maximum pitch count, also had four hits — including a two-run homer. Damon Totherow also hit a two-run homer and tripled. Danville American will play Danville National on Monday at 6 p.m.

Danville National 4, Lynchburg Jefferson 3
DANVILLE — Danville National defeated Lynchburg Jefferson 4-3 behind the arm of Koffe Averett on Saturday. Patrick Wyatt had a double and Drake Whitlow added two singles in the win.
Cody Phelps, Ethan Purnell and Tyler Perrow also had singles.

Last Ending, two outs, two strikes, and they take him off the mound. He could only pitch 85 pitches. Rules are rules!
