Cougars, Hildreth hang one on Greensboro
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Behind a solid pitching performance from Ben Hildreth, the Averett Cougars picked up their first USA South conference win on Sunday, beating Greensboro College 4-2.
Hildreth tossed a complete game for the Cougars (13-18, 1-8 USA South) with three strikeouts, while Adam Higgins led Averett at the plate with a 3-for-4 day and two runs scored against Greensboro (20-12, 4-4 USA South).

Averett nabs its first win of season
The Averett Cougars won four of six singles matches on Sunday as they beat North Carolina Wesleyan 6-3 for their first win of the season.
Kayla Craddock, Eliisa Alatalo, Hannimari Savola and Megan Brady all won their singles matches for the Cougars (1-6, 1-4 USA South), while Alatalo teamed with Niina Marttila and Savola paired with Brady to win their doubles matches against Wesleyan (0-14, 0-4 USA South).

Cougars fall in makeup matches
Finishing off a match suspended from March 29, the Averett Cougars lost to North Carolina Wesleyan on Sunday, 5-4.
Two singles matches were all that remained on the schedule, as the Cougars (2-9, 2-2 USA South) came into the makeup up 4-3, but Jeff Ingrund and Will Sanford lost both for Averett.
