FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man charged with raping and killing a 5-year-old North Carolina girl was expected in court Friday, a day after authorities revealed what they believed happened to her in her final days.

Authorities said Thursday that Shaniya Davis was sexually assaulted and asphyxiated before her body was dumped off a rural road. Mario McNeill is charged with first-degree murder and first-degree rape of a child, Fayetteville Police Chief Tom Bergamine told reporters at a news conference.

Earlier in the week, authorities said McNeill admitted taking the girl, but Bergamine did not say whether McNeill admitted to the child’s death.

A search warrant says McNeill picked the girl up in front of her home and drove her more than 30 miles to a hotel in Sanford, where she was last seen alive. Surveillance video captured McNeill carrying the girl in the building.

“It is our sincere hope that the Davis family may now begin to put this horrific event behind them and begin the healing process,“ Bergamine said at the news conference.

McNeill’s lawyer, Allen Rogers, did not immediately respond to a message left at his office after hours.

The girl’s mother, Antoinette Davis, is charged with trafficking her daughter and child abuse involving prostitution. Bergamine said Thursday night that no new charges have been filed against Davis.

Police issued the warrant containing the new charges against McNeill after they collected hair and fibers, clothes, and a straw from his 1997 Mitsubishi Galant.

It doesn’t matter what the courts, prisoners or any body else does to this AH and the B. Nothing even comes close to the torture and helplessness she must have gone through. May they rot in he!!

One thing positive I can say about this situation: It has always been said that a man like this that hurts a child and goes to prison. The real men in prison WILL kill this scum bag, because these real men do not tolerate this crap. I just hope that they kill him in a way that makes him suffer and beg for mercy. Get him boys!

This would be the perfect case to dispense TRUE JUSTICE!!

I have felt for a long time that JUSTICE really only belongs to the VICTIMS and their LOVED ONES,  I think that every person CONVICTED of a crime against a person, especially a child, should be handed off in shackles to the victims family to dispose of in any way they see fit, it should also be televised on pay-per-view to pay for all the legal fees these scumbags run up for the innocent TAX PAYERS.

This would silence all sides, if you dont believe in the death penalty then YOU would be responsible for upkeeping these scumbags,but…....if you wanted to cut down a tree and nail his ba11s to it ands set it on fire, that would be fine too!!!!!

These 2,and others that were involved, are not people, they are monsters and should be treated as such.  I would like to see them released, scott-free.  So that then the family members who loved this child could take matters into their own hands.  They deserve exactly what they (both of them) did to this child.  Any less than that is injustice.

Did I really just read that the police chief hopes that the family can “put this horrific event behind them and begin the healing process”?  Something tells me they will never put this behind them.  I truly hope that they will be able to find some peace in knowing that this little angel will never be harmed again.  I agree that there is no punishment great enough for this SOB and the child’s mother.  I don’t know if I’d rather see them tortured every single day in prison for the rest of their miserable lives, or if someone should just blow them away before it ever makes it to trial.  It would probably be easier on the child’s loved ones if they just blew them away.  There are some sick, twisted people in this world and I hope these two get what they have coming to them!
