Vote ‘yes’ on May 6

» 1 Comment | Post a Comment

A committee of Mayodan residents was formed to provide voters information regarding the mixed beverage referendum in Mayodan on the May 6 ballot. Committee members were raised in Mayodan and raised their families in Mayodan. We live, work and pay taxes here.
The referendum is a choice citizens should make of their own accord after weighing the facts. Mixed beverages make Mayodan more marketable for full-service businesses. The taxes and sales revenue we keep within our community will only improve the quality of life locally. A vote for will be orchestrating future growth with responsible leadership. “For” means you would rather spend your money locally and encourages others to spend money here.
Traffic on U.S. 220 gives Mayodan an opportunity to capture additional revenues, which helps Mayodan’s taxpayers. “For” says you reject outdated mindsets that alcoholic beverages in restaurants/hotels are evils that we as adults can’t handle. Major chain restaurants and state ABC regulators place restrictions and uphold laws on the sale of alcohol. “For” says we need tax dollars and we are not willing to see our taxes go up in order to keep alcohol out of our town readily available only feet away in Madison. “For” says Mayodan is ready for growth and has the ability to attract visitors, travelers and additional businesses to help keep our property taxes and utilities manageable. Vote “for.”

Thanks to the “FOR Progrees Committee” for all the great facts in your brochure that was distributed in Mayodan last Saturday.  I can’t wait to VOTE “FOR” on May 6th.  If you are tried of high taxes and water bills please support this effort with your vote too.
