A Thanksgiving thanks
As a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, I would like to thank everyone who participated in Reidsville’s 26th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner. Volunteers from area churches and scout troops helped serve and deliver meals.
Equity Group, Frank Verdi, Jr. and Gil Bradford provided turkeys. Reidsville Grocery assisted with the purchase of vegetables and various supplies. The First Baptist Church and Carolina Cafe provided their kitchens. Bill Simpson headed up a number of cooks that included Jay McCollum, Earl Moore, Henry Douglas, Pleas McMichael, Elton Trent and Vickie Rogers. Numerous churches in town provided desserts and even pork shoulders to round out the meal.
In all, more than 500 meals were given to our neighbors. An occasion such as this exemplifies the selflessness of many who devote their time and energy to show concern for our brothers and sisters who need us. We are indeed fortunate to live in such a caring community.
