Writer: Marshall’s record distorted
To the editor:
Seward Anderson’s recent mailing attacking Del. Danny Marshall contained the following inaccuracies:
1. Anderson wrote that Southside lost 3,000 Apple Computer jobs to North Carolina. This project was actually located in Boydton, 60 miles east of Danville. We never lost the project because we never had it to begin with.
2. Anderson wrote that we lost the jobs because there were not the needed funds in the Governor’s Opportunity Fund. Anderson should know that this fund is funded well enough that the Apple proposal would have received every penny for which the company qualified. What he did not accurately put in his flyer was that Apple wanted a different form of taxation on their services than is current law in Virginia. If the governor had called us back for special session to modify this law, Apple would now be calling Virginia home. The governor did not. It was our own Gov. Timothy M. Kaine who sent these jobs to North Carolina, not Danny Marshall.
3. Anderson claims that Marshall does not “get it” — that he opposes economic development. Nothing could be further from the truth. Marshall has worked to make Virginia a friendlier place to open or expand a business. He has worked for and voted to streamline regulations in which to make Virginia a business-friendly state.
4. Why does Anderson claim Marshall is against business? Because he voted against a budget. I will tell you from experience, I have been attacked for voting in support of budgets and attacked for voting in opposition to budgets. Every 600-page budget, allotting billions and billions of dollars, has a lot of good and a lot that legislators would oppose if it stood alone. Each legislator must decide: “Does the good outweigh the negative?” It is simply disingenuous to pick out one line and say a legislator voted against that particular item.
Danny Marshall stands out as a solid legislator who is honest and avoids playing silly games to manipulate voters. Danny Marshall has worked hard on your behalf to bring economic prosperity and jobs to Southside. I encourage you to re-elect him Nov. 3.

Please explain about ELVIRA, I keep seeing it in articles about Seeward, the wet dog.
He has no leg to stand on and is now going the Tomer route, give the people half truths and try to make yourself look good when you’ve done nothing.
Folks, Seward Anderson is smelling like a WET DOG. His attack on Danny Marshall is his only leg to stand on. You can always tell when a man has no integrity and morale torpitude when he opens his mouth. It’s a shame politics has to bring out the devil in men. Why can’t Seward Anderson tell us of his accomplishments??? We would like to know how it helped the City Of Danville when he was the former Mayor and he was so trilled in the event of having ELVIRA all in his lap. I feel sorry for your wife Mr. Anderson. Mr. Anderson also explain why all you had on your mine was to keep raising taxes and you did as our former Mayor. You were the worst former Mayor of Danville that I can remember.
What goes around will surely come around in a 10 fold agreement.

typed in ben davenport jr.
search the years 1996 thru 2009. over $100,000 given. 58% republican, 42% democrat.
your argument is?
well okay, he voted for it and he voted against it, you know, kinda like john kerry voted for the 87 billion dollars to fund the war, right?
Sneaky- Go to www.vpap.org and type in Ben Davenport under donors and that will show you who he gave money to. All to Seward and nothing to Danny Marshall. Check your FACTS!

Look at the facts Mr. Libertarian (a person that can’t make up their mind). Call Mr. Davenport himself and ask him who he supports. Facts are facts, seems like you want to believe whatever you have thought up in your own mind. I know very well who uncle ben throws his money to.
