‘We the people’
To the editor:
This great nation of ours once consisted of “We the people.” We owned this great land, and we sent people to Washington to represent “we the people.”
Now we are a nation that is governed by 435 members of Congress, 100 members of the Senate, nine members of the Supreme Court and a president that marches to his own drummer assisted by a series of czars who answer to him alone.
It is time that “We the people” informed these people that we put them in office and that we have the power to take them out! It is quite obvious that the will of the people means little to nothing anymore in Washington.
We were promised “transparency” in government. No major bills would be signed until the public — that’s you and me, folks — had an opportunity to read them. But in reality, those who vote for these bills do not bother to read them themselves.
Are we to believe that it takes 1,990 pages in a single bill to give the American people affordable health insurance? And if the words “public option” offend, simply change the name but leave the content the same.
If you have not read “America is Me,” the anthem for “We The People” by Mark Hayes, I encourage you to do so. It says what I have feebly tried to say here in 250 words or less. It is time that we forget the terms Democrat and Republican and just be Americans who believe in “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
Mr. President, you were given the great honor and privilege of leading these United States of America. It’s time to quit blaming your predecessor and get with the program. And it may not be a bad idea to start listening to “we the people.”

A couple of days ago I said that the letter about “pooping in the park” was the dumbest letter published here. I was wrong. This one is. Here is a man who has obviously never read the constitution, has just learned how this country is governed and calls himself an American.
“We the people” decided a year ago that the corrupt Bush administration and the GOP needed to go. But even before the election, we had a government of the people - it was just terribly flawed in the leadership which “we the people” had elected.
The idiot Republican congresswoman from Minnesota, Michelle Bachmann, is calling for anarachy - she, yesterday, on the capitol steps called for “revolution.“ This is the type of govt. this so-called citizen wants to lead us?
“Revolution” is against the entire premise of the Constitution; we change leadership in an orderly method through elections by “we the people.“ Get over it, Mr. Crane - you are governed by a republican form (not a democratic form) of government, and Barack Obama, whether you like it or not, still has the support of more than 50% of the American people (much greater than the 23% Bush had when he went out of office).
Yep, this is the dumbest letter ever published in the R and B (until the next one).
‘Nuf said. Peace.
